I have really been enamored by the DKoK figures from Forge World, but they are so darn expensive. For the longest time, I simply kept plugging away at building my Imperial Guard with more Cadians, Catachans, and some nice figures from Warzone /Prince August, but none quite had the techie apocalypse look of the Death Korp. And then I found Wargame Factory, and their long coat "shock troops"... And best of all, just $20 for 18 figures. The only drawback is that there are only three fixed body positions, so you have to really get creative with the arm positioning to ensure you don't wind up with the same looking figure over and over again.

Death Korp of Kreig... well, sorta...

Painting is one of my favorite things about war game figure... so I wanted to try my hand at painting one of the new resin Finecast figures from GW. Another fellow had a tight money jam, and sold me this figure primed and assembled.... so after looking at it on my shelf for a few weeks, I decided tonight was the time to paint this guy up. Finecast resin seems to have a ton of detail, but with that fine detail also comes minor problems like pits in the resin, and "short stems" (under poured or non-formed detail) areas. This fellow suffered only from a thin loin cloth, which I easily remedied with a little of the new (and WONDERFUL) GW "liquid green stuff in a bottle.
I did most of the work with the guidance of an image from GW's stock photos, but I didn;t like the green inner lining of the loin cloth, so I went with a white on grey, and outlined a design in Scarlet Red (Gore Red).
So here he is... what do you think?
